I Had Bit Of A Makeover.. Over The Holidays!

As you all know, I dyed my hair blue over the summer and into the fall. I absolutely loved my blue hair. I absolutely hated the upkeep though. First of all, I hated washing it because washing it makes it fade faster. Plus, the blue would bleed out so terribly when washing it, that I had to wash my hair in the sink because if I washed it in the shower, I'd have to scrub the shower down afterwards (and I hate cleaning the shower! Lol).

At first, it was worth it to me to do all that extra crap because I just loved having that luxurious, blue hair. But after about 5 months, I wanted an easy getting ready routine. I wanted to wash my hair more than once/twice a week. I kind of wanted to wear red on Christmas and not look too patriotic, too.

So, I started the long process of getting rid of the blue. It involved many steps that I won't bore you with, but it included some "Color Oops" and some Vitamin C tablets. Over the course of 3 weeks, I had several hair colors.

The photo we put on our Christmas Cards!
First, it looked very faded and pretty green. I am not a fan of green, but it worked for this picture as it looked very festive. I was more than ready to get rid of it, though, so I did some more stuff to it..

Only my bangs are real in this picture.

I somehow got it to look like this. But only the bangs. The rest of it was still pretty green. It was a miracle that I had a fake ponytail hair on hand so I didn't look like a weirdo for a Christmas party I went to with my parents. I might be able to cover it up, but I REALLY wanted the blue/green gone! So I did more stuff to it!

Opening up my presents on Christmas Eve!

I obviously didn't do enough to my hair. It didn't change that much. It was still very green. People told me at the time that it didn't look terrible, but I thought it looked like chlorine turned my hair green or like I visited Chernobyl or something. I took a break for a few days then I did some more stuff to it.

Well, would you look at that! All the blue/green is out. When I started getting the funky dye out of my hair, I really only just wanted it gone. I didn't expect I'd go back to blonde, but some of the treatments I did lifted all hair dye out of my hair and since I'd dyed my hair blonde a couple summers ago, my hair was blonde when I was finished (although I did have to bleach my roots so my hair would be more even).

Joe and I took the kids sledding in our front yard when it finally snowed!!

And somehow since New Years Day, it's turned a little less brassy just from my shampoos and conditioners.

If you've been following this blog or you know me in real life, you know that this is not the last makeover post I will make this year! Don't get me wrong; I'm going to give my hair a bit of a break before I change it again. It's in great shape right now, BUT a little time off will be good for it. I don't want to kill it like I did 2 summers ago!
